As the daily grind of business and work carries on, many of forget the most critical part of our success - our network. In the begining we tend to it with great enthusiasm. But as the business picks up and we get busy, this aspect tends to get neglected. We don't return calls promptly, we try to avoid meetings, and slowly we loose touch with our network.
'Never Eat Alone' by Keith Ferrazzi is a wakeup call for all of those drifitng by and letting thier network slowly disintegrate. Full of great advise on how to build and maintain the network critical to the success of your business.
What I loved about it is that the author tells us to have fun doing it. There is no forcedness or long list of todos. A simple and very human way of being in touch with people that matter to you.
After reading the book I started paying more attention to the people in my immediate and extended network. I now stay in touch more actively. I invite friends - for lunch/dinner more often and generally now try to be of use to the people as well. In the process I have also started to have a lot of fun and have also rejuvenated my friend circle. I am sure in the long run its only going to be good for my business.
Do pick up a copy of this book - you will love it.
