Book Reco: The Art of the Good Life: Clear Thinking for Business and a Better Life by Rolf Dobelli
18th June 2018

Normally I am wary of self help books with their generic advice which is pretty much the same all over. But I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author's easy style of writing, unique perspective and advise really makes this book a pleasure to read and also contains gems of wisdom.

The book is filled with small bite sized chapters of wisdom which make it easier to digest. Although the author seems to have a background in psychology and philosophy, he uses simple language and easy narratives to bring his point across. All the advise is directly applicable and actionable.

Although not all the chapters are great, there are a few gems here that make reading the book worth your while. I really liked the chapter ‘The things you buy leave no real trace' where he talks about buying experiences rather than just things or the chapter ‘The Pledge' where the author asks you to build some absolutes in your life so that decision making gets easier.

Overall it's a great read and if you can read through some standard stuff, you will also get quite a few gems.
